God in heaven, we pray for the success of this acquaintance party.

May you shower your blessing on everyone present here today.

May you bless the organizers and sponsors of this party, so they can continue to do so.

So that these will all be completed successfully.

May this activity be a way for us to know each other,

so we can live together in harmony and love for your greater glory.

We pray that as we leave this venue,

We have grown more in love and concern for our fellow men.

Grant that whatever problems we have had in the past,

these will all be resolved properly with your guidance.

We know that through your divine intervention nothing is impossible.

All these we ask in your mighty name. Amen.

Zika Virus Updates, WHO Declares Global Alert

The World Health Organization declared a global alert as the Zika virus continues to spread and infect people from all over the world. This was reported by international news on Monday, February 1, 2016.

Mosquitoes that transmit the Zika virus

The Zika virus has no immunization and cure so far, and scientists are working double time to counter its deadly effect. Reportedly, it’s most harmful to pregnant women, as proven by Zika infected women in Brazil.

It’s dangerous also because 80% of those infected are asymptomatic (no symptoms). Those who displayed symptoms experience red eyes, fever, joint pains, rashes, muscle pain and headache. These symptoms are generally mild and may last for a few days up to a week for adults, but for babies the effect is fatal; microcephaly or other deadly brain defects can result.

The Zika virus mode of transmission is through mosquito bites, which usually bites during the daytime. It has been reported to be rarely transmitted through blood transfusion. It’s also believed that Dengue Fever chikungunya viruses are transmitted by the same mosquito.

CDC had provided travel notices for pregnant tourists who want to travel abroad, and had issued a geographic location of areas infected with the Zika virus.

People are advised to implement the following precautions issued by CDC. (http://www.cdc.gov/zika/prevention/index.html)

People who are suspect and infection must visit a doctor immediately, drink lots of water, and get plenty of rest. They can take acetaminophen but not aspirin.

The Zika Virus can be prevented by avoiding the growth of mosquitoes by eliminating water sources that could harbor the growth of mosquitoes.

On its Facebook website this was posted:

“The excitement of live TV is evident tonight on The Miss Universe stage with over 10 million fan votes tabulated. Unfortunately, a live telecast means that human error can come into play. We witnessed that tonight when a wrong winner was announced. Our sincerest apologies to Miss Universe Columbia, Miss Universe Philippines, their families and fans. We congratulate Miss Philippines as Miss Universe 2015."

Miss Universe trended on Twitter as Netizens reacted to the incident:

Miss Colombia got her dream shattered in front of the world and Miss Philippines didn't even get to enjoy and feel the moment of winning. Both of these ladies deserves an apology because that was embarrassing for both of them.

No one was clapping or waving to Miss. Columbia. Then they announce Miss. Philippines won. An ,Hell everyone went crazy. I knew it was her. He really didn't mess up. If you play it back he said runner up who will fill in if Miss. Universe cannot.

omg both of them i feel awful for. Miss Philippines didn't get her shining moment and miss colombia thought she won. but for everyone hating on the man who messed up don't. He obviously didn't mean to and no one can imagine how awful he must feel. So please don't make hate on anyone

Stop bashing Miss Philippines for winning the crown. She is more deserving than Colombia. Pia is the highest in Swimsuit and Evening Gown competition.

And she answers the question with wit and elegance.

And you think you deserved the crown last year? No! Miss Jamaica should be the winner last year. So back off, haters!

That was poorly handled. And both of these gorgeous ladies deserve an apology because that was embarrassing for both of them. I literally felt both of their pain. Congratulations to Miss Philippines though. And go Miss Colombia! You're still beautiful.

Meanwhile Miss Columbia was asked how she felt after the Miss Universe crown was taken back from her. She said:

“Everything happens for a reason, so I’m happy. Thank for voting for me…”

The poise and elegance of these ladies make them truly worthy of the Miss Universe crown although not all of them can win.

Congratulations, Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.

Arnel Pineda, Journey’s Lead Vocalist, Launched a Mobile Classroom for Street Children in Metro Manila

Arnel Pineda, Journey’s Lead Vocalist, has launched a Mobile Classroom for street children through his charity foundation, Arnel Pineda Foundation Incorporation (APFI) on December 13, 2015, Sunday.

Arnel Pineda’s fervor to help school dropouts stemmed from the fact that he has been a high school dropout himself. Hence, he understands the travails that school dropouts are undergoing.

At 12, he lived alone and had fended for himself in the streets of Manila, singing here and there for food. Then at 15, he auditioned for the band, Ijos, and became the lead singer. They sang at the local Shakey’s Food outlet.

He went on to form the band “Amo”, and that was the start of his incredible singing career. He continued singing for more than 20 years, hopping from one band to another to provide for his family - the meagre amount not really sufficient for his growing brood.

Until one day, Neal Schon, the guitarist of the iconic American band, Journey, discovered him on YouTube when he was singing a Steve Perry song with the band, The Zoo.

And the rest is history, so to speak. Life has changed drastically for him. His rags to riches life story is a legend in the world of rock and roll.

Arnel Pineda revealed that he had used Efren Peñaflorida's project, 'Kariton Classroom' as his model. He believes that education is the key to the children’s bright future.

He further said:

“I hope that the future generations obtain proper education.”

Arnel’s Mobile Classroom will tour the streets of Metro Manila to help dropouts and indigent kids continue their education.

APFI had been active in helping out needy people during disasters and similar incidents. The rock star deserves to be idolized by his millions of fans around the world because of his generous and kind heart.

Mabuhay ka, Arnel Pineda!
