Arnel Pineda, Journey’s Lead Vocalist, Launched a Mobile Classroom for Street Children in Metro Manila

Arnel Pineda, Journey’s Lead Vocalist, has launched a Mobile Classroom for street children through his charity foundation, Arnel Pineda Foundation Incorporation (APFI) on December 13, 2015, Sunday.

Arnel Pineda’s fervor to help school dropouts stemmed from the fact that he has been a high school dropout himself. Hence, he understands the travails that school dropouts are undergoing.

At 12, he lived alone and had fended for himself in the streets of Manila, singing here and there for food. Then at 15, he auditioned for the band, Ijos, and became the lead singer. They sang at the local Shakey’s Food outlet.

He went on to form the band “Amo”, and that was the start of his incredible singing career. He continued singing for more than 20 years, hopping from one band to another to provide for his family - the meagre amount not really sufficient for his growing brood.

Until one day, Neal Schon, the guitarist of the iconic American band, Journey, discovered him on YouTube when he was singing a Steve Perry song with the band, The Zoo.

And the rest is history, so to speak. Life has changed drastically for him. His rags to riches life story is a legend in the world of rock and roll.

Arnel Pineda revealed that he had used Efren Peñaflorida's project, 'Kariton Classroom' as his model. He believes that education is the key to the children’s bright future.

He further said:

“I hope that the future generations obtain proper education.”

Arnel’s Mobile Classroom will tour the streets of Metro Manila to help dropouts and indigent kids continue their education.

APFI had been active in helping out needy people during disasters and similar incidents. The rock star deserves to be idolized by his millions of fans around the world because of his generous and kind heart.

Mabuhay ka, Arnel Pineda!
